A Context Free TAG Variant
نویسندگان
چکیده
We propose a new variant of TreeAdjoining Grammar that allows adjunction of full wrapping trees but still bears only context-free expressivity. We provide a transformation to context-free form, and a further reduction in probabilistic model size through factorization and pooling of parameters. This collapsed context-free form is used to implement efficient grammar estimation and parsing algorithms. We perform parsing experiments the Penn Treebank and draw comparisons to TreeSubstitution Grammars and between different variations in probabilistic model design. Examination of the most probable derivations reveals examples of the linguistically relevant structure that our variant makes possible.

Predictive Left-to-Right Parsing of a Restricted Variant of TAG (LD/LP)
By means of a factorization of linear precedence (LP) information in Tree Adjoining Grammar (TAG), the possibility to capture syntactic generalizations can be enhanced, especially with respect to languages which exhibit relative free word-order. In TAG(LD/LP) LP-information is factorized in a way reminiscent of the ID/LP format of CFGs. However, in contrast to its context-free counterpart, in T...

SV40 large tumor Ag (Tag) contains four H-2b-restricted (I, II/III, IV, and V) CTL epitopes. A hierarchy exists among these CTL epitopes. CTL directed against epitopes I, II/III, and IV are readily detected following immunization of H-2b mice with SV40, Tag-transformed syngeneic cells, or a vaccinia recombinant that expresses full-length Tag, while epitope V-specific CTL are not. The mechanisms...
متن کاملA Unifying Framework for Concatenation Based Grammar Formalisms
Linear Context Free Rewriting Systems (LCFRS, [Wei88]) are a general class of trans-context-free grammar systems; it is the largest well-known class of mildly context sensitive grammar; languages recognized by LCFRS strictly include those generated by the HG, TAG, LIG, CCG family. (Parallel) Multiple Context-Free Grammar (PMCFG, [KNSK92]) is a straightforward extension of LCFRS. Literal Movemen...
متن کاملThe Weak Generative Capacity of Linear Tree-Adjoining Grammars
Linear tree-adjoining grammars (TAGs), by analogy with linear context-free grammars, are treeadjoining grammars in which at most one symbol in each elementary tree can be rewritten (adjoined or substituted at). Uemura et al. (1999), calling these grammars simple linear TAGs (SLTAGs), show that they generate a class of languages incommensurate with the context-free languages, and can be recogniz...
